Soft Shield was inspired by the viking shield maidens; women who were highly skilled warriors who used their shields as defence and weapons, whose existence is debated.

Moreover, Soft Shield explores the concept of epigenetics—the profound impact our ancestors have had on us and the lasting influence we will have on future generations. Through embedding words written in oak midribs, positioned where a caesarian scar might be, I pay homage to the countless eggs contained within me and the fleeting nature of their potential messages.
