Invisible

Jetpur, Rajasthan, India

This performance was a response to being in an environment where my body was constantly gazed upon, with certain attention to perceived gender. I began visualising sinking into the ground and moving through this space. These images document this mental projection onto the landscape. The head scarf would not absorb the sand, thus making my face ultimately more visible. I was accompanied on this performance with Tulsi.

The video was made through a friendship developing with Tulsi. My concepts of public and private had been radically displaced whilst spending time in her environment. The work explores overlaps of the concepts within personal interactions and public spaces.
